I’m currently in Málaga with my boyfriend, one of my favourite places in Spain. I’m so happy! I have this weird thing where I hate speaking English; compared to Spanish it’s such a brusque, boring language. On the other hand I absolutely adore talking Spanish, every word is gorgeous; ‘a truffle’ in the words of Liz Gilbert, who gave me my title inspiration for today, gotta love Eat Pray Love!
Last year when I came here, I was on my gap year and so there wasn’t any work to do. However this time both of us are at uni so we have to be revising even though we’re supposed to be on holiday. It actually isn’t so bad when our hotel is right on the beach and the scenery is gorgeously sunny, it just means we’re earning our leisure time!
We’re staying in a hotel in the little fishing town of Pedregalejo, which is about 10-15 minutes from the main city centre. It’s so pretty, with a parade of local restaurants on the beach front; fishing boats barbecuing fresh catches in hollowed out mini boats right before you, steaks on hot stones, heladerías, gorgeous pink sunsets, palm trees… it’s beautiful.
Last night we went for dinner at this little place called La Clancha where I got the most amazing chicken couscous with caramelised onions, spinach and almonds- oh my god I was in heavennnn! We got 2 starters, 2 mains, a bottle of wine, dessert and 2 coffees for just 54 euros which I thought was amazing, and given that it was a Sunday and we ate at 5, quite lucky!
We have a really busy schedule for the whole 11 days that we’re here for, to make sure that we get around and see and do as much as possible; we are too inclined to wind up spending our days lounging around the hotel and not actually getting out much! I cannot wait to get all of this done, it’s going to be sooo good! I’ll try to keep updated with the stuff we’re doing by doing some photography posts at a few points during the holiday; and trust me, I’m taking loads of photos of everything. The main challenges will be remembering to stick to a strict revision schedule plus working out plus budgeting the money, it’ll be interesting!
Have a gorgeous Monday!
