I haven’t done a beauty post in absolutely ages, so I wanted to share with you my May Favourites today. There are 6 beauty products and also 2 apps that I’ve been loving this month, so let’s get straight into it!
The first two products go together like strawberries and cream. I’ve been after a new BB Cream for ages after my trusty Maybelline Dream Fresh finally ran out on me last month. The Rimmel BB Cream is just £6.99 from major drugstores and is a 9-in-1 product; it minimises the appearance of pores, evens skin tone, mattifies, controls shine all day, smoothes, soothes, conceals dark circles, helps prevent blemishes and gives all day coverage. I use a BB cream as a primer and foundation especially on a day where I just want to do a natural face with minimal makeup. I love that they don’t make your face feel clogged and heavy and that the Rimmel BB cream is matte rather than shiny which makes my face look oil very easily. To blend it in I have been loving the Airbrush FX blending sponge which I got in one of my last Glossybox deliveries.
Next is a cleanser that I’ve previously mentioned in a favourites post last year and have seen loads of beauty bloggers consistently raving about- the Pixi Glow Tonic. This gorgeous tonic smells so lovely and is really effective in removing makeup traces, cleansing the face and décolletage area and leaves you feeling refreshed and rejuvenated. You can pick this up for £18 from major stores as well as Pixi shops themselves, and lasts for absolutely ages even with daily use like I’ve been doing!
After using the glow tonic, I’ve been applying a touch of Philosophy Purity 3-in-1 Cleanser with cotton pads all over my face. It has an extremely cooling feeling and revitalises the face, especially as the Pixi Tonic can be slightly drying so a moisturising cream afterwards is necessary. This is part of my nighttime routine and I go to sleep with the softest skin which feels very refreshed after a day of tubes and city dirt that can cause stress to the skin. You can get these cleansers from Boots for £8.50 and despite their tiny size they are really effective so definitely worth the money!
Recently I broke my phone case so ordered a new one from Amazon and just wanted to include it because it’s SO CUTE! I absolutely love Alice in Wonderland themed things and it matches so well with my rose gold phone, so I’m really pleased with this especially as it was only £8.99.
In terms of apps, Planoly is the best thing when it comes to planning and scheduling your social media posts. You upload photos that you want to see on your Instagram feed and can move them around to see how they’d look before scheduling and posting! You can even see your posts in a calendar form to visualise how many posts per month you’ve been doing including what time they’ve gone up in the day. My feed has really come on in leaps and bounds since using this app because I can really co-ordinate the photos and make sure they match.
Finally, I’ve been using Duolingo to revise for Spanish and Italian which are the languages I study at university. I have also been using it to pick up on my French again and teach myself German- languages are my favourite hobby, can you tell? This app is really good as it takes you through loads of different types of exercises to improve vocabulary, written, speaking and listening skills and has a variety of different languages and subjects. I’d definitely recommend Duolingo if you want to practise a language for a holiday or brush up on language skills.
May has been such a busy month; getting my exams and second year of uni finished, starting work full time, setting up my YouTube channel- all of these things have taken their toll on my skin so skincare has been really important and these beauty products have been a lifesaver! I’m really loving the apps as well, for organising my Instagram feed and keeping my mind sharp with language skills which I can do on my commute to and from work.
Tomorrow my first YouTube vlog goes up and it’s definitely been a learning curve this week, getting used to the editing process and all of that- I’m not exactly the most technologically advanced person in the world! I hope you all like it, I’m really excited to be sharing my life with people and using this new platform as a way of recording experiences so that I can watch them again and get all nostalgic. Look out for a new blog post next Wednesday on yet another Coffee Shop Review- I’m so over-caffeinated all the time lately!!
