November Favourites

Apart from October, I haven’t done a favourites post on my blog since May… that’s absolutely ridiculous! I want to start writing more of them even if they just include a couple of products, because it’s interesting to see how my tastes are varying from month to month.

So, getting back on track with this month’s favourites; I’ve had so many products that I’ve been loving this month, varying from beauty, tv, even alcohol! To make up for the fact that I’ve been so lax with favourites posts, I’m going to try and cram loads of cool things into this one, so grab a cuppa and let’s do this!

The first book in this month’s favourites is “The Little Book of Hygge: The Danish Way to Live Well” by Meik Wiking. I bought two of these from Amazon for £4 each as Christmas presents, but couldn’t resist reading a copy myself before wrapping them. As Denmark is said to be the happiest country in the world based on their very social way of living, this book tries to relate some of the characteristics of ‘hygge’ which is loosely translated as the art of creating intimacy and cosiness. I adore the idea of this book and have ordered a copy for myself; of course I am a huge advocate of any book that recommends lighting candles, wrapping up in blankets and reading a cute book with a hot drink and some cake as a way of improving your lifestyle! There are a few books centred around the idea of Hygge on the market right now but this is definitely the cutest for me as the cover is so sweet as well as how small it is- perfect for your handbag to read on the commute to work or as a trendy decorative piece for your bedside table!

The second book is one that my boyfriend recently bought for me on our trip to London to see the Harry Potter & the Cursed Child play. During our break between both parts of the play (see my blog post here for more info), we visited the House of MinaLima which is a prints and graphics exhibition. As well as all the incredible Harry Potter posters and memorabilia, there was a display with these amazing illustrated novels. They had Peter Pan and The Jungle Book so far, and are coming out with Beauty & the Beast which is my favourite in March (definitely going back up for that one!). Throughout the book there are beautiful illustrations and 3D interactive elements and the whole thing is bound in a vintage style cloth that is going to make a stunning addition to any bookcase. I love anything like this and collect special editions of books so this couldn’t not be included in my favourites and I can’t wait to get my hands on a copy of Beauty & the Beast! You can check out the MinaLima website here for more information about their books and other print works.

I feel weird including an alcohol in my favourites but I tried the “Absolut Raspberri” for my birthday night out and absolute loved it! This vodka is incredible with some lemonade and the sweet raspberry flavour disguises any harshness which you might usually get with vodka. I’m not the biggest fan of spirits but this was really delicious and I would definitely buy it again. Other flavours which I really like from the Absolut range are the “Absolut Apeach” and the “Absolut Mango” which again are very sweet but fruity and taste lovely when mixed with some lemonade.

For my birthday my best friend Kirsty got me the Game of Thrones collector’s edition of Monopoly which was really random but I actually love it! I played it with Tom and ended up winning for the first time in ages- and didn’t have to throw a massive loser’s strop at the end… I love collector’s editions of Monopoly as they spice up the game a little, and love this as a present!

I have been wearing “Si” by Giorgio Armani every single day and it’s on its last legs which is really sad! I love how chic this scent is; lightly floral with bergamot, slightly sweet, not overpowering at all. It’s the perfect daytime scent but also sets an outfit for the evening and makes you feel so much more put together and sexy in a way- does perfume do that for anyone else? I love finding that signature scent that you cannot wear enough of and know that I will be putting this on my Christmas list when the original finally runs out as I haven’t been wearing any of my others lately.

Finally a show that I have been obsessed with lately is The Crown on Netflix which a biographical story of Queen Elizabeth II from the time of her wedding to Prince Phillip in 1947, ascending the throne and continuing on to the present day. It is so well produced and accurate, plus I love the Royal family so this has been really interesting for me to get more of an insight into their lives. Thankfully the show has been commissioned a second season and the plan is to have 60 episodes spanning over 6 seasons, with Claire Foy playing Elizabeth and Matt Smith as Phillip- corr, he’s a bit of alright even as a blonde!!

I have more products but will include them in my December favourites or else this post is going to be ridiculously long! I’m going to get back into the habit of making this a monthly thing as I’ve said because I enjoy writing these posts, so look out for my December Favourites as a part of Blogmas later next month!

Lots of Love,
Daisy xxx
