Back in my ‘What I Got For Christmas’ post I briefly showed you my new Jeffree Star purchases as part of one of my resolutions to try out more makeup brands in 2017.
After a couple of wines on Christmas Eve I decided to treat myself to some new makeup- as if I hadn’t already received enough, lucky duck- and went on BeautyBay.com, an online store offering over 10,000 products from UK and international beauty brands. I was quite skeptical about ordering online especially from a site I had never used before- even more so when I read the reviews a few days later and hadn’t seen a single positive one- but found that my products arrived by the 28th as promised and were in perfect condition.
I had decided to try out two Jeffree Star products as I’ve seen so many bloggers raving about these velour liquid lipsticks in particular.
Velour Liquid Lipstick in “Rose Matter” – £16
I have so many neutral and brown shades of liquid lipstick by both NYX and Kylie Cosmetics so I decided to prep for spring and get a pretty pink shade. In the end I opted for “Rose Matter”, quite a dark pink that really suits my skin tone especially as I’ll be getting more tanned as the weather (hopefully) gets warmer. These liquid lipsticks are quite wet when applied in comparison to NYX in particular, which give a more creamy texture on application. However, I find that these are the longest lasting liquid lipsticks I have tried especially given the bold colours- you don’t get any discolouration during the day and I can safely wear this for a whole shift at work while eating, drinking and talking with customers without feeling like it’s wearing off and looking silly.
You can find the liquid lipsticks in over 30 shades here from BeautyBay.com
Skin Frost in “Peach Goddess” – £25.50
Of course I couldn’t resist getting myself some of the Skin Frost Highlighting Powder although they didn’t have “Ice Cold” or “Princess Cut” which are the white shades that I was looking for to give me that killer highlight. Instead, I went for “Peach Goddess” which is more of an understated beige-peach neutral shade, perfect to wear on a daily basis with natural makeup. The colour payoff on this product is incredible and it’s so pigmented that you really don’t need much product on your brush when using it. How gorgeous is the embossing as well- in fact, how frickin’ beautiful is the entire packaging!? Hot pink and gold, yaaaass!
I’m really impressed with both the products and BeautyBay.com, especially the fact that you get free worldwide shipping on orders over £15!!?? It cuts out any insane shipping or import fees which is such a relief after my ordeal trying to get the Kylie lip kits delivered from America which ended up costing almost as much as the products themselves. There are so many incredible brands on here and despite the bad reviews that I’ve read, I’m glad I’ve made my own mind up about the website because it’s actually really good.
